In the fall of 2011, as Occupy Wall Street reached its pinnacle, anger towards the financial sector wasn’t limited to Lower Manhatttan. When Bank of America announced a $5 debit card fee, it caused some savvy citizens to turn to social media to empower a grassroots movement that would eventually sweep the nation and force the big banks to rethink tactics many interpreted as consumer bullying.
